Galveston County Daily News, Dec. 7, 2006 Houston Chronicle reporter Kevin Moran has covered the island for a quarter of a century. In media circles and among news consumers, Moran, 57, is a Galveston institution, covering through the years everything from hurricanes to murder trials of cross-dressing real-estate heirs. But last week, Moran was officially reassigned to the Chronicle’s online edition, causing him to be the subject of news. Other memorable stories include scandal involving the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Willed Body Program. The university shut down the program in 2002 when it was learned that the ashes of donated bodies had been mingled together.
