Coast Guard rescues injured crewman from oil rig in Gulf of Mexico

KTRK/HOUSTON,, Dec. 7, 2006 Shortly before 2am Thursday, the Coast Guard received a call for assistance from the crew of the oil rig located about 100 miles southeast of Galveston. The crew reported that a pipe had fallen on another crewman's leg and that it was possibly broken. Crews from Air Station Houston launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter and Air Station Corpus Christi launched an HU-25 Falcon jet. The helicopter landed on the platform and the flight crew, along with crewmembers from the rig, loaded the injured man on board. They transported the man to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
