Area duo set to get their due

Brazosport Facts, Jan. 23, 2007 ANGLETON - Two area women's efforts to support worthy causes are about philanthropy, not publicity, but next week they will be receiving some of the latter nonetheless. The Community Foundation of Brazoria County will honor Emma Womack of West Columbia and Renee McGuire of Pearland at its seventh annual Philanthropist of the Year dinner at 6 p.m. Monday at the Angleton Recreation Center, 1601 N. Valderas St.  Her efforts include the establishment of an endowed scholarship at Texas A&M University for a Brazoria County student who is majoring in agriculture; donating 25 acres to the West Columbia Chapter of FFA; and donating a house to the University of Texas Medical Branch for doctors to stay in while they interned with a local doctor and learn what it is like to be a doctor in a small town.
