GALVESTON, Texas - Representatives of several federal and state agencies will discuss how seniors can avoid investment fraud at Senior Summer Camp 2007 on Thursday, Aug. 23, at Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church, 2803 53rd St. The camp is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Senior Services Office at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and Libbie's Place Adult Day Service.

In addition to presentations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Postal Service and the Texas State Securities Board, representatives of several insurance companies will discuss drug plans and supplemental insurance. The camp is open to seniors and caregivers. Those attending will receive a free boxed lunch.

About 100 vendors are expected to attend the third annual camp. More than 800 people attended last year's camp. Free health and fitness screenings will be offered as well as a variety of classes ranging from retirement financing and crafting classes to the use of cosmetics to reduce the signs of aging.
