Care for uninsured an issue for UTMB

He believes he’s making progress. “It’s like hitting a big rock with a sledgehammer,” he said. “You keep pounding away at it, and sooner or later, it will break.” Stobo, president of the University of Texas Medical Branch, was vice chairman of a statewide task force that studied the issue for two years. The task force recently issued a report titled “Code Red: The Critical Condition of Health Care in Texas.” “The fact that we had a task force is progress,” Stobo said. “This was a group of 19 people who concluded that this was an issue in need of attention.”
