A cure for Alzheimer’s disease has yet to be found, but there is a tight-knit group of researchers working day and night at the Mitchell Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, under the helm of one who may just find that “magic bullet,” wrote Kristen Hensley of UTMB’s Office of Public Affairs. Dr. George Jackson is the director the center and professor in the departments of neurology and neuroscience and cell biology. “The brain is a different animal,” he said. “Research is a slow progression, but I know we can modify the course of this disease.”
