Nursing students assist parish

Galveston County Daily News, July 28, 2010

Hurricane Ike caused major disruptions to the faith community of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Kay Sandor, a professor in UTMB’s School of Nursing, writes about how nursing students from UTMB were recruited to assist in assessing the interests and attributes of the parishioners of the new parish formed in Galveston after the storm. UTMB senior nursing students who participated in the Holy Family Stewardship Survey were Debra Morris, Yanling Feng, Oluwaseun Adegboye, Chelsea Baker, Junghee Kang, Morgan Mathews, Edith Ngamga and Festus Irabor. Assistant professors Tina Cuellar and Bonnie Webster and associate professor Yolanda Davila also participated. Once the data is compiled, new stewardship groups will organize and help to address the needs of the new Holy Family Parish.
