Blood pressure drugs may help frail

UPI, August 24, 2010

Continuing to receive coverage is a study by UTMB researchers that indicates a drug that helps vessels dilate — increase blood flow, especially to the hair-thin vessels called capillaries — may help fight frailty due to muscle deterioration. The study, published in the journal Diabetes, finds infusing insulin to aid muscle growth could be helped by administering a vasodilator — nitroprusside. The article also appears in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
