Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 07/29/06 Police Friday were looking for a trio of men who attacked the husband of a University of Texas Medical Branch dean and the family dog. Investigators said they suspected the attack on Gary Strong, 53, could be tied to medical branch job cuts announced last month. Strong is married to the school’s dean of medicine, Dr. Valerie Parisi. Strong reportedly left the their home on Lanyard Place on Thursday night to walk one of the couple’s dogs. When he reached the base of the stairs outside the home, three men wearing ski masks jumped him, according to police reports. They punched and kicked Strong several times and also attacked the dog, police said. Strong told police that one attackers said, “Your wife doesn’t know who she’s (expletive) with.” That comment led police to believe the attack could have roots in the June announcement that the university would cut about 1,000 positions by the end of September.
