Texas receives $2.7M from FEMA for UTMB repairs

Houston Business Journal, March 8, 2013

The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded $2.7 million to Texas for repairs made to UTMB’s 1902 Harborside building after it was damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008. The Harborside building, which houses medical records, payroll information, information systems and print functions, flooded after hurricane-force winds hit Galveston Island. The FEMA funds enable UTMB to flood-proof portions of the building by replacing the slab on the first floor, waterproofing surrounding walls, installing flood gates at doorways on the first floor and relocating mechanical, plumbing and electrical equipment to the second floor.
