The best care is right around the corner

The temptation is to dismiss that as more paper shuffling. For some perspective on what that means to people who live in the area, consider the Jan. 26 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine. If you’re injured, your risk of death is cut by 25 percent if you can get to a trauma center, as opposed to another kind of health care center. That’s one of the findings of “A National Evaluation of the Effect of Trauma Center Care on Mortality,” a study by researchers at The Johns Hopkins University and the University of Washington.
