Health policy lecture
“Dr. Bonnen goes to Washington” will the topic of the next Healthy Health Policy lunch and lecture at 11:30 a.m., Oct. 9, in room 3.362 of the Clinical Sciences building, located on the Galveston campus behind John Sealy Hospital. Science academy registration extended
The UTMB Office of Educational Outreach/Science Education is offering the Saturday Biomedical Science Academy to students in grades four to six. The program offers hands-on activities designed to develop awareness for the “world of science” and show how creative, fun and applicable science can be. The free program will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 9, Nov. 23 and Dec. 7. The deadline to register has been extended to Oct. 11. Walk to End Alzheimer's

Gastrointestinal cancer support group
Counselor Faith Robin will discuss positive techniques for managing stress due to cancer at the next meeting of the GI cancer support group at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, in Room 1.132 of the Rebecca Sealy Building, at the corner of Market and Eighth streets in Galveston. “Holiday survival: Proper food handling” is the topic for this month’s meeting of the UTMB diabetes support group on Oct. 14. UTMB Health is hosting Ladies' Night Out, a breast cancer month event focused on breast reconstruction, 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, 2240 Gulf Freeway South in League City.
