Labor Day closures
UTMB schools, business areas, administrative offices and most clinics will be closed Sept. 1 for the Labor Day holiday. John Sealy Hospital and the emergency room never close. Saturday sports injury clinic
Whether it’s football, soccer, cheerleading or lacrosse, UTMB’s expert team of sports medicine physicians and physical therapists are available every Saturday this fall to treat sports injuries immediately – the right way. The Saturday Sports Injury Clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Aug. 30 through Nov. 8 at the UTMB Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, 2240 Gulf Freeway South, League City. TMA leadership
UTMB’s Dr. Thomas D. Kimbrough, a professor in the Department of Surgery, has been appointed to serve on the Texas Medical Association’s Committee on Membership. TMA physicians and medical students appointed or elected to TMA’s 30 boards, councils and committees are responsible for studying and recommending action on important issues affecting Texas patients and health care policy. The Committee on Membership guides TMA’s and county medical societies’ membership recruitment and retention programs.

Meet the nurses
The UTMB Student Nurses Association is offering a free information session featuring 15 nurses from all specialties of the nursing field. This is a great opportunity to learn about the many different areas of nursing, including flight, forensic, emergency care, burn care, critical care, oncology and many more. UTMB Angleton Danbury Campus unveiling and open house

Urgent need for blood donors
There is an urgent need for type O+, O- and A- blood donors; however, all types are welcome. The UTMB Blood Center donor room in Galveston is located in John Sealy Annex, room 5.212, and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Victory Lakes Town Center Blood Center donor room will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
