They helped realize the Dream at UTMB

Houston Chronicle (Internet / Print) 01/11/06http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3579220.html Katie Winslade is one who has worked to make the dreams of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. come alive in Galveston County, people who know her say. Patrice Yarbough is also receiving praise for her work. Both are among four to be honored Friday at a ceremony sponsored by the University of Texas Medical Branch Student National Medical Association and the UTMB Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. "Katie has heart," said Sharon Strain, executive director of the Galveston Housing Authority. "She puts herself into a task with all of her being because she really does want people to do well and to be able to change their lives." Winslade, director of the UTMB Office of Workforce Development, has helped many minorities and women get ahead in jobs and in schools, said Ann Cochran, a co-worker who nominated Winslade for the community service award.
