Welcome to Correctional Managed Care

Founded in 1994 through a partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Correctional Managed Care program provides health care services to inmates in more than 100 adult and juvenile correctional facilities across Texas.

The program delivers medical, dental, and mental health services to over 126,000 patients, which is about 80% of the state’s incarcerated population.

Correctional Managed Care is also a global leader in telemedicine and electronic medical records. Each year, it handles around 4 million patient visits. UTMB is recognized for its innovative programs and creative solutions in correctional health care, serving jails, state and federal prisons, and juvenile detention centers.
