Congratulations! Thomas's abstract titled" Cross-Sectional Study of Emergency Room Visits among Hispanic Immigrants by Country of Origin" was accepted by the 7th Latino Health Summit-Research Symposium.
His poster presentation was done on March 21, 2024 in Houston, TX.
The
Latino Health Summit, in partnership with the Hispanic Health Coalition and
Harris County Public Health, aims to extend its reach and impact, mobilizing
the broader Houston community for positive change. Thomas's study pointed out that within Hispanic/Latino immigrants, disparities exist. His study also pointed out the key determinants such as lower education for Mexicans, higher income for Puerto Ricans, and higher education for Dominicans. The finding offers new insights on how ER utilization vary by country backgrounds and simply treating them as one Hispanic population will miss a lot of opportunities to enhance quality of care and quality of life.
