    Child Migrant Health Report

    Funded through a grant from the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Health Policy Institute, this research report uncovers government policies, agency practices and environmental factors associated with the health of child migrants fleeing violence from Central America and Mexico and their ability to receive adequate healthcare in the United States. A cross-disciplinary research team from four TMC institutions (University of Texas Medical Branch, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital, and University of Houston Clearlake) produced this report.

    New Seafarer Health Brief

    Seafarers are people who live and work at sea. They contribute to the majority of global trade via the shipping industry, yet are an understudied population. Their transient lives make them easily forgotten, as they often spend no more than a couple of days at each port they visit. A focus on seafarers in public and global health policies is vital, especially with the imbalance between documenting land travel and migrant health versus sea travel and migrant health.

The conference itself lasted from April 11th to the 13th, but all of the following presentations were given on Tuesday, April 12th.

    Successful DSRIP Reporting

    UTMB's Center to Eliminate Health Disparities (CEHD) just completed their bi-annual report for two Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) projects. The reports were created by the CEHD, reviewed and submitted by UTMB's 1115 Anchor Office, and will be graded by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on behalf of the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS).
