Kelly Coates, MBAAssociate Vice President, Operations

CoatesKelly Coates is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in business administration.  He joined UTMB CMC in 2008 as the Director of Performance Improvement.  He then became the Director of Support Services until 2017 when he was promoted to an Associate Vice President of Outpatient Operations.  In addition to operational roles, he has led the Lean Six Sigma efforts at CMC since 2016.  Mr. Coates has led the development of several support services initiatives within UTMB CMC to include the transition to digital radiology services, digital diabetic retinopathy scanning, and enhanced telehealth access to specialty clinics and physicians at Hospital Galveston.  Prior to joining CMC, he was an institutional sales representative at Pfizer pharmaceuticals as well as a Campus Director for a small technical college.  Kelly recently retired as a Naval medical service corps reserve officer as well.
