The Annual National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week took place Sept. 25 through 29, to recognize and celebrate an important group of providers who elevate the fields of medicine and nursing to ensure our patients and communities receive safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. APPs are certified and licensed to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage illnesses, prescribe medications, perform clinical procedures, and conduct clinical research in management of the whole individual.
The Faculty Group Practice houses approximately 230 APPs – which include Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Certified Nurse Specialists – serving our patients across all hospital campuses and clinics. UTMB-wide, we have more than 500 APPs.
UTMB’s APP Executive Council celebrated with a week of themed days, games, and contests, and cookie socials for APPs and other colleagues at each hospital campus. The APP Awards of Excellence ceremony took place Thursday, Sept. 28. Congratulations to all our honorees! Thank you to all our APPs for your outstanding work.
