A new meeting of the Texas Transplant Center support began meeting at the Multispecialty Center at Victory Lakes Town Center, 2660 Gulf Freeway South in League City. The group is open to all pre- and post-transplant patients.

Free oral cancer screenings
In observance of the 16th Annual Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, UTMB Health will be offering free oral cancer screenings 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Ear, Nose & Throat Consultants Clinic in League City, Suite D, Brittany Plaza at 1600 West League City Parkway. The screening is painless and only takes about 15 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. “Understanding colon and rectal cancer: A guide for patients” will be the topic of Dr. Aakash H. Gaijar, a colorectal surgeon at UTMB, at the next meeting of the GI cancer support group at their next meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, in room 1.132 of the Rebecca Sealy Building, at the corner of Market and Eighth streets.
