Send Your Ideas Through May 27
We know that good, creative ideas abound throughout UTMB, and we want to hear about them from you. Innovation Challenge 2013, a new UTMB program funded through a grant from The University of Texas System, is now live. I invite you and your colleagues to get involved by posting challenges and/or solutions on the online “Challenge Forum”. And be sure to watch for new challenges posted by fellow UTMB employees—including executive leadership.

Through Innovation Challenge 2013, you can post a problem on the “Challenge Forum” that, if solved, will benefit the UTMB community and our mission. It can be an issue within your own department or something unrelated to your job that you’ve noticed could be improved for patients, students or co-workers.  You can also offer your own innovative solutions to problems posted by others. Weekly drawings to win an iPad will be held through May 27 for UTMB employees, faculty, students and residents who engage in the “Challenge Forum’’ site.

I also urge you to apply for the “Collaborative Innovation” course, in which collaborative teams will be formed to tackle selected challenges and come up with innovative solutions. The best of these ideas ultimately will be presented to me and other executive leaders at the “Challenge Tank” event on July 29 in Levin Hall. The online course application is available today; application deadline is May 14.

I encourage you to participate in this exciting new UTMB initiative designed to inspire, cultivate and reward innovation.
