The Cardiac Rehabilitation Center recently celebrated its renovation with an open house. Renovations began on the clinic, located in suite 4.100, room 4.152 J in the McCullough Building, following Hurricane Ike.
"I am excited about the opening of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center in John Sealy Hospital and look forward to serving patients with various heart conditions," said Dr. Ken Fujise, head of UTMB cardiology.
The UTMB Cardiac Rehabilitation Program aims to reverse limitations experienced by patients who have suffered cardiac events by encouraging and equipping them with the knowledge and practice of a heart-healthy lifestyle. Cardiac rehab starts when a patient is still in the hospital and continues after discharge with the patient receiving extensive rehabilitation as an outpatient.
