Market Street westbound is closed from Second Street (Ferry Road) to Sixth Street. Market Street is now a one-way street eastbound from 12th Street to Second Street. No parking is allowed between Sixth and Fourth Streets on both the north and south sides of Market St.
This is for the ongoing installation of underground utilities along the perimeter of the Galveston campus. Signage is in place to direct both pedestrian and vehicular traffic around the construction area, and temporary sidewalks and ramps are routed to maintain pedestrian access. Construction is expected to last through January, 2015.
Effective Feb. 10, the southbound lanes of Sixth Street between Darrell Royal Avenue and Market Street will close. The northbound lanes will change to two-way traffic.
We are happy to announce that the project to upgrade the outdoor track at the Alumni Field House will begin Monday, Feb.17.
The scope of this project will include the following:
- Removing the old track surface
- Patching the cracks in the concrete substrate
- Spraying a new base and top coat
The duration of the project will be 3 weeks, weather permitting. Our target date for finishing the project is Friday, March 7. The entire track will be closed during the renovation. We realize progress can create inconvenience, but we know the finished project will be a tremendous upgrade and an added value to our members. Your assistance in respecting the boundaries and conditions of this renovation is greatly appreciated.
