The School of Nursing online master’s degree program at UTMB has been recognized as a leader in graduate education, ranking sixth nationally and the best in Texas in the prestigious U.S. News & World Report survey of graduate nursing programs online.

“This ranking is evidence of the more than 20 years’ experience we have garnered in online nursing education, and a testament to the hard work, dedication and excellence our faculty and students display,” said Dean Pamela G. Watson. “UTMB was the first to educate master’s degree-prepared nurse practitioners in Texas and the first to offer online graduate nursing education. This is a legacy we are proud of.”

The School of Nursing offers a wide-ranging curriculum, from the Bachelor of Science degree to the Doctor of Nursing Practice.  Visit the website for more information.

The school’s legacy began with opening day on March 10, 1890 as the John Sealy Training School for Nurses. It was the first school of nursing west of the Mississippi and one of the first in the country to become part of a university when it became part of the medical branch.
