Sports, school physicals   Knowing a student needs to be ready for the demands of their extracurricular activities, UTMB makes it easy with a one-stop physical screening from an expert team of physicians and health care providers. The fee for a comprehensive physical screening is $25. Concussion baseline assessment is available for an additional $10. The screenings are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21 at the Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, 2240 Gulf Freeway S., in League City. Call 409-747-3509 or email health.events@utmb.edu to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged for concussion screenings. Caring Cradles baby shower    This community effort supports prenatal education and care for women. Donations of diapers, wipes, other baby care items, furniture, food and toys are being accepted through June 6. UTMB’s Regional Maternal and Child Health Program is one of two programs that will receive donations. Donations can be made at any RHCMP clinic location, and the following UTMB sites: Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center, Stark Diabetes Center, Bay Colony Pediatrics, Bay Colony Women’s Health and Bay Colony Dermatology.Clinic addresses and hours are available at utmbhealth.com.On June 6, donations can be dropped off in Galveston from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Shiloh A.M.E. Church, 1310 29th St.

Asthma research   Volunteers are needed for an asthma research study. Individuals may qualify for one of UTMB’s studies if they have a history of physician-diagnosed asthma and are 18 to 65 and a nonsmoker for at least one year. Free Microsoft Office classes   Microsoft Office classes on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook will begin June 11 in Rebecca Sealy Training Room 1.148.  These free, one-day classes are available to all UTMB employees.  Employees interested in participating must enroll in these courses through the ELM – Enterprise Learning Management System.
