More than 200 members of UTMB's incoming class of medical students recently received their white coats in a ceremony that formally welcomes them into the medical profession.
“This is a milestone event for our incoming medical students and their families,” said Dr. Garland D. Anderson, provost and dean of the UTMB School of Medicine. “It is the beginning of their journey to becoming physicians and recognition of their achievement of being accepted into medical school.”
Dr. Bernard M. Karnath, an associate professor of internal medicine at UTMB and also a UTMB alumnus was the keynote speaker and delivered his speech "A Symbol of our Profession" at the ceremony which has been a UTMB tradition since 1996.
