UTMB's Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Professions recently celebrated the entry of their second-year students into their first full-time clinical experience with a professionalism ceremony. The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Cynthia Fisher, the current president of the Texas Physical Therapy Association. Fisher discussed the importance of professional development as it relates to the clinical environment.
During the ceremony students were pinned as a symbolic gesture of their new role as student physical therapists and their commitment to helping others. The students recited the professional pledge to publicly acknowledge their new responsibilities and affirm their personal and professional pledge to clinical excellence and health care.
