Davison recognized for outstanding service 

UTMB employee Diana Davison was recognized by the City of Galveston Families, Children and Youth Board with a plaque announcing her outstanding service to the board and the community. Diana is special events coordinator in the Division of Community Relations for the Office of Health Policy and Legislative Affairs. "Diana’s attention to detail and true belief that we can make Galveston Island the best it can be were several reasons why we selected her," said Tiernan. 

The city has partnered with UTMB staff and administration with many programs and projects and several UTMB employees have served on the board in the past.

UTMB employees recently provided support for the 2010 Wings Over Houston Air Show at Ellington Airport.

The UTMB Aerospace Medicine Program has been training resident physicians since 1993 and has helped develop training and medical protocols directly related to space travel. In the UTMB tradition of service, the university’s Aerospace Medicine Program began in 1993 as a partnership with NASA/Johnson Space Center. At that time, its mission was to support the U.S. space program by training resident physicians to conduct preventive and certification medical exams for pilots and other crewmembers.

Today, the program boasts a Master of Public Health in Aerospace Medicine curriculum, and participating residents contribute to the development of protective equipment for crewmembers, conduct research protocols in all aspects of aerospace medicine, and are trained to function in environments as diverse as general aviation, private industry, government agencies, academic institutions and space flight.
