Scott C. Weaver, PhD, Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Microbiology and Immunology, Director of the Institute for Human Infections and Immunity, and Scientific Director of the Galveston National Laboratory, has been appointed holder of the John Sealy Distinguished University Chair in Human Infections and Immunity.

 

 

 

 

David A. Yngve, MD has been appointed as inaugural holder of the Tilman and Paige Fertitta Professorship in Orthopaedics. The endowment was established in 2009 with funds comprised of proceeds from the 2007 San Luis Salute Mardi Gras Ball hosted by Tilman and Paige Fertitta.

 

 

 

 

Roger R. Throndson, DDS, Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, has been appointed holder of the Carl E. Schow Chair in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The endowment was established in 1993 by various donors to support activities and professional programs of the Surgery Department. The chair bears the name of the first chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Carl Schow, Jr., a dedicated surgeon who joined the UTMB faculty in 1969. After retiring in 1989, Dr. Schow served as a member of the UTMB President's Cabinet. He passed away in 2002.
