UTMB employees teach Advanced Burn Life Support course in Mexico

UTMB employees Mike Buffalo and Jamie Heffernan traveled with a small group to Mexico City to give an
Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) instructors course to 15 doctors and residents.
The ABLS is a course developed by the American Burn Association to assist first responders in the initial care (first 24 to 48 hours) of the burn patient. The initial care has a huge impact on outcomes, and most of this care happens before the patient can be stabilized and transferred to a burn center.
The
Michou y Mau foundation has supported ABLS courses throughout Mexico. This particular trip was to enable the Mexican physicians to teach the course themselves.
