Street closure
Post Office Street will be closed between Sixth and Eighth streets,through Monday, April 25, for the installation of utilities in Rebecca Sealy Hospital. Parking on surface lots to the east of the Rebecca Sealy garage may be accessed from Sixth Street via the alley between Post Office and Church streets. Detour signs will be posted.
Study volunteers sought
Volunteers are needed for a study investigating the effect of nutritional supplementation on the body’s ability to clear fat from the blood. The study, being conducted at the Institute for Translational Sciences Clinical Research Center at UTMB, needs participants between 60 and 75, with elevated fat levels in the blood. Baker honored
Christine Baker, professor in the department of physical therapy in the School of Health Professions, has been selected by the American Physical Therapy Association as the 2012 Pauline Cerosali lecturer. Recipients are those who have distinguished themselves as esteemed educators, administrators, practitioners and mentors as well as articulate, caring and sensitive individuals.
Visiting campus
Dr. R. Balfour Sartor, a professor in the departments of medicine, microbiology and immunology at the University of North Carolina, spoke on host-microbial interactions in chronic intestinal inflammation at the invitation of the infectious diseases and immunity colloquium.
