UTMB Health Nursing Service began a journey of excellence by meeting the first milestone in the Magnet Designation application process. The Magnet Recognition Program was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence; it also provides a vehicle for disseminating successful nursing practice and strategies. Recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice, the Magnet Recognition Program provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure the quality of care that they can expect to receive. The completion of the next milestone is anticipated by Oct. 1, when written document submission is due to the Magnet Program Office.
