The highly anticipated UTMB Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes is set to open later this spring. As the population of the Bay Area rapidly grows, this new facility addresses the need for high-quality, specialty health care.

The two-story, 110,000 square-foot building complements UTMB’s 20-plus smaller clinics located across northern Galveston County and southern Harris County. Its innovative design contains a complete day surgery center with six operating rooms, complete laboratory services, a state-of-the-art imaging center, weight management center, breast health center, pelvic health center and multiple specialty clinics.

“In essence, it’s a high-expertise, one-stop-shop for anyone with medical conditions that may require surgery,” said Bonnie Benkula, the center’s associate vice president.  “Our new center will provide the ultimate in convenience for our patients while ensuring they receive the best physicians, specialists, services, treatment and technology available.”

Patient care is the core of the center’s philosophy.

“Our interdisciplinary team of physicians treats the whole person, not just certain facets of his or her health,” Benkula said. “Should the patient grant permission, our UTMB care team will share medical records to ensure each physician involved in that patient’s care is completely aware of both health status and treatment options.”

Another focus at Victory Lakes is providing a high-quality experience in a comfortable, healing environment. The building’s contemporary exterior design allows plenty of natural light to permeate the interior space. Hues of blues, grays and other colors in nature convey warmth and comfort. Patients will also take comfort in knowing that treatment options and equipment at Victory Lakes are some of the most technologically advanced available, effectively combining expertise, education and high-technology.

Patient convenience has also been carefully considered. Patients can quickly park their cars free of charge, see one or more specialty physicians, receive any necessary imaging or lab work and undergo any procedures needed…all in one place.

Services include orthopaedics, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, general surgery, pain management, ear, nose and throat surgery, and gastroenterology, just to name a few. This convenience also means less wait time for patients in need of day surgery procedures. Virtually every surgical procedure that can be completed at an outpatient surgery center can be handled at UTMB Victory Lakes.
