International Education Week is an annual event sponsored by the Global Health Education Program, Galveston Global Health Consortium and Students Improving Global Health Together (SIGHT). This year’s theme, Global to Local, spotlighted global and international Health at UTMB — both the work done internationally and our international faculty, staff, and students.

Activities included a poster competition and display; an inSIGHT photography contest that featured images taken by UTMB students, residents and fellows while on their rotations abroad; a photo essay on Mali, Africa by Christina Gomez-Mira, a second-year medical student; and an international panel of UTMB residents, fellows and faculty that addressed what it is like to come from an international setting and practice medicine in the United States.

The week concluded with the Global Health Awards Ceremony, honoring UTMB students, faculty and donors for their accomplishments.
