With summer fun just around the corner, UTMB Health recently offered a week of community events and activities promoting great health and a fun and safe summer. The week started with the return of free skin cancer screenings at Stewart Road Family Health and at UTMB Health Dermatology in Bay Colony.
A few days later, more than 120 people took advantage of oral cancer screenings by the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the League City Ear Nose and Throat Clinic .
In spite of storm and showers, a large crowd of UTMB employees and their families enjoyed themselves and learned about available services at an employee mixer hosted jointly by the departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics. Held to also help mark Hospital and Clinics Week, the event showcased dozens of UTMB services and areas. It was held concurrently in two neighboring locations: at the new
Pediatric Specialty Center at Bay Colony and at the
Women’s Specialty Care at Bay Colony/University Fertility Center.
The next Saturday,
UTMB's Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes served as the site for a huge community health fair. Under beautiful, sunny skies, more than 60 exhibitors from UTMB and the community provided wellness screenings, health and other information, entertainment, dance and martial arts demonstrations, music and more, to large and enthusiastic crowds.
Thanks to all who helped organize, who generously volunteered their time, and who participated in these great events.
