Excellence in Professionalism Award winner 

Congratulations to third-year medical student, Nandhika Wijay, for being the recipient of the UTMB Excellence in Professionalism Award for the month of April. Nandhika was chosen for his academic compassion and community service. The award is given each month to recognize a student who has shown exemplary professionalism within the UTMB community.


UTMB Beach Babies walk a success

The Beach Babies, UTMB's March of Dimes team, recently raised $2,421 for the March of Dimes. Congratulations! 


Association of American Medical Colleges appointment

Cameron W. Slocum, vice president, Finance-Academic Enterprise, UTMB was appointed as Professional Development Committee Chair to the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Business Affairs for 2011-12.


Netter's Knitters

The UTMB student knitting club — Netter's Knitters — recently visited the nursery in John Sealy Hospital to deliver hand-knitted caps to the infants. The charity knitting and crochet group makes knitted and crocheted items to donate to the UTMB and Galveston communities. The group also offers instruction in knitting and crochet basics. Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to contact them.
