Christopher Fry

Three graduate postdoctoral researchers,  Christopher Fry, Erin L. Glynn and Michal R. Szymanski, were named as Jeane B. Kempner Scholars at UTMB.

The Jeane B. Kempner Scholars Award Fund was established at UTMB in 1956 with a bequest from Daniel W. Kempner in honor of his wife, and receives support from the Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund.

The one-year fellowships provide stipends for UTMB graduates to conduct post-doctoral training research projects under the supervision of qualified faculty at UTMB or at any other accredited academic institution.

Fry was selected for his proposal about the role of certain cells in the growth of skeletal muscles. Glynn’s proposal was “Biochemical mechanism of improved insulin sensitivity” and Szymanski was selected for his proposal to study the role of certain enzymes in the replication and repair of DNA.
