Nursing Education, Advancement and Resources (NEAR) once again facilitated the widely attended 32nd Annual School Health Conference, a community outreach undertaking aimed at the health education of the public of all ages.

The conference, “Caring for the Health of Our Children,” provided current information to school nurses and others interested in the health of children, regarding top national health priorities and trends in caring for school age and adolescent children. The latest standards regarding assessment, skills, management, delegation and oversight of care were presented.

The NEAR department collaborated with an interprofessional group of school nurses and other nurses, administrators, physicians, nursing faculty, nurse practitioners, dieticians and other health care team members to provide this unique program. More than 350 people attended from the community and UTMB, along with 30 volunteers
