Monday, schools, business areas, administrative offices and most of UTMB’s clinics will close for the day. John Sealy Hospital and the Trauma Center never close.
Two pediatric urgent care clinics will be open from noon to 8 p.m. They are at 2027 61st St., in Galveston, and at 3023 Marina Bay Drive., No. 101 — next to CVS — in League City.

School Of Nursing Welcome Ceremony
The UTMB School of Nursing hosted academic year opening exercises Monday afternoon at William C. Levin Hall.
This event welcomed new nursing program students and acknowledged the accomplishments of continuing students as they advance in their program.
The School of Nursing opened in March 1890 as the first school of nursing west of the Mississippi River and one of the first in the country to become part of a university.
Primary Care Pavilion
The relocation of many clinical services to the Primary Care Pavilion, 400 Harborside Drive, in Galveston, is complete. Now in the PCP are Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Allergy and Immunology, General Medicine, the Harborside Medical Group, Geriatrics, Orthopedics, Radiology, Rheumatology, the Stark Diabetes Center, Family Medicine, Island Pediatrics East and Employee Health.

Effective Saturday, the medical branch is moving service from the Pearland Imaging Center to the Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, 2240 Gulf Freeway South, in League City.

“Antimicrobial properties of borders: TB, immigration policy, and human rights” was the topic of a colloquium featuring Joan E. Paluzzi, a visiting scholar at the Institute for the Medical Humanities and a medical anthropologist with more than 20 years of experience in critical care nursing.
Presentations
“Nurturing a culture of trust” was the topic of a nursing ethics seminar presented by Barbara Bonificio, director of nursing excellence and nurse manager Luisa “Dee” Gallardo.
