The Osler Student Societies will host the fifth annual UTMB Halloween Carnival from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday on the Plaza of Moody Medical Library at Ninth and Market streets. The carnival, for children 10 and under and their families, was created in 2008 in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike to provide a safe environment for community children to trick or treat. Admission is free; however, people are asked to bring a canned food item for the benefit of the St. Vincent’s Food Pantry. Events include pumpkin carving and costume contests, face painting, balloon animals, fun games and prizes, a haunted bus, a dunking booth and, of course, lots of candy.

Heart Walk

The UTMB Health team will be joining in the free Bay Area Heart Walk on Saturday in Kemah at the boardwalk. The heart healthy festival begins at 7:30 a.m. with the walk set to start at 8:30 a.m. For more information, go here.
