A job offer and corresponding letter from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) is required to apply for
TN status. The UTMB department, division, center or institute offering the job must coordinate with the International Affairs Office
to produce the required letter.
TN status is renewable in one-year increments ONLY if no steps are taken to seek immigrant (permanent resident or “green card”)
status in the U.S. Consult the Office of International Affairs before requesting TN status if the offered position is “tenure track”
and/or the employing department will sponsor the prospective employee for immigrant status in the U.S.
