As requested by UTMB’s Office of the Vice President of Research a number of UTMB faculty, administrators, and staff are planning an exciting educational program in One Health to be held on December 1st, 2022. In 2007, the American Medical Association endorsed the concept of One Health which the World Health Organization has defined as:

"….an approach to designing and implementing programs, policies, legislation and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.”

UTMB’s first One Health Symposium will be held in in UTMB’s Health Educational Center from 9AM to 1:30PM UTMB. The meeting’s theme is “From Bench to Bedside: How One Health is Already Part of Your World.

The program will involve rapid fire brief presentations by some of UTMB’s most accomplished scientists and clinicians with a goal to demonstrate how One Health is foundation in their work at UTMB. The Symposium will also feature a breakout session where participants will brainstorm regarding how UTMB might effectively complete for large multidisciplinary research and training grants. Continuing medical education will be offered for physicians and some Symposium presentations will be streamed online for others to view.

The Symposium is sponsored by the Institute for Human Infections and Immunity and UTMB’s Office of the Vice President of Research. More information can be found at: www.utmb.edu/one-health/events
