  • UTMB is actively working on formal agreements with select commercial IRBs.
  • UTMB participates in a Reliance Agreement with all other UT Institutions.
  • UTMB allows the use of CIRB for NCI designated cancer trials.
  • UTMB Health has two IRB committees that each meet monthly (every 2nd and 4th week of the month). Full board approval can vary based on the risk level and quality of research protocol. The median number of calendar days from complete submission to approval is 43.
  • Clinical Trial Agreements are processed through the Office of Clinical Research. Clinical Trial Agreements must be uploaded into Velos eResearch as part of the initial study packet.
  • It is required that you upload a complete study packet (including protocol, contract template, informed consent template, and budget template) prior to a study being placed in a work queue.
  • The use of master agreements is encouraged. We honor both UTMB health and University of Texas System master agreements with industry sponsors.
