The Games are on!
We’re excited to announce that the Annual Wellness Visit Clinic Competition (AWV Olympics), sponsored by the UTMB ACO REACH Initiative.
In honor of the 2024 Olympics, all ACO REACH participating Primary Care Clinics will have the opportunity to compete each month in the “AWV Olympic Trials” in effort to bring their clinic Gold in 1 of 2 competition categories and win either a Lunch or Scrubs/Jeans Day for their team respectively! Please share this with your clinics, staff, and managers!
Competition Duration:
July 29th, 2024 – December 31st, 2024
Competition Rewards are Monthly! The first AWV Olympics Trial will run from 7/29/24 and end on 8/30/24
Objective:
- Category 1: During each month long “Olympic trial”, the clinic with the highest % AWV increase of AWVs from their
baseline % with the correctly billed G code will win their clinic a lunch of choice.
- Category 2: During each month long “Olympic trial”, the clinic with the most improvement (based on their weekly trend of
total remaining pts with AWV Care gaps) with the correctly billed G code will win their clinic a Jeans/Colored Scrubs Day.
Patient population All Medicare Patients that are eligible, due, or overdue, for one of the following Annual Wellness Visits:
- Welcome to Medicare Visit – G0402
- Initial Annual Wellness Visit – G0438
- Subsequent Annual Wellness Visit – G0439
Why is this important?
- According to a study from the American Journal of managed care, Medicare beneficiaries received significant benefits in
AWVs; deterring future medical expenses and improving preventive medicine
- In an analysis of 63,000+ UTMB Medicare patient encounters from 12/18/23 to 6/17/24. Patients with an overdue AWV had
75.15% Care gaps (828,935) compared to patients who received an AWV (36.27%, 63,604 Care gaps) – a ~39% difference!
