UTMB's Dr.Shi Elected a National Academy of Inventors Fellow

The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) has elected Dr. Pei-Yong Shi as one of the 2021 Fellows. He will be inducted at the NAI Fellows Induction Ceremony at the 11th Annual Meeting of the National Academy of Inventors on June 15, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Shi is among 164 prolific academic innovators from across the world elected NAI Fellow status. The 2021 Fellow class comes from 116 research universities and governmental and non-profit research institutes worldwide. They collectively hold over 4,800 issued U.S. patents. 

 “It’s an honor to be selected as a fellow and to be included amongst such outstanding scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs. The is a recognition of the collaborative community of UTMB that is essential for what we do”, said Shi, professor of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. “Now more than ever, it’s great to see global recognition in science, technology, and innovations.”
