Welcome to UTMB
The University of Texas Medical Branch offers 33 residencies and 37 subspecialty fellowship programs. Four residency programs are located at Austin, Texas including Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Transitional Year, as well as in Galveston, Texas. All residency programs meet the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties. In addition to the accredited programs, several departments offer subspecialty fellowships in areas not requiring accreditation—all are approved by the Texas Medical Board for issuance of physician-in-training permits to individuals not yet permanently licensed in Texas. The individual program directors and their departments conduct the recruiting, training, evaluating, and managing of the specific programs listed below. The Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education are responsible for general oversight and monitoring of all these programs including regular internal reviews.
