Nominations for the 2010 awards will be solicited in Spring 2010

 
 

As medical education is an important part of the Departmental mission, it is important that we reward excellence.   The Pediatric Educator Excellence Awards honor those who have shown excellence in medical education.

Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education
(for contribution to medical education at any of 4 years of medical school)

 

Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Residency Education
(for contribution to residency education)

 

Pediatric Community Preceptor Award
(for a community preceptor who teaches students or residents)
presented at the annual Pediatric CME conference

 

Award for Excellence in Support of Pediatric Education

(to honor a member of UTMB or its service community who supports the Department of Pediatrics and its education mission)

Nominations:
Nominators should describe the medical education efforts and activities of the nominee, and provide rationale for selection of this nominee.   Although a contribution outside the Department may be valued (e.g. contributions to other UTMB Department and or Schools or a national influence), it is important that the award be given to someone who is making a direct contribution to the UTMB Department of Pediatrics.  Nominators are requested to keep their nominations secret from the nominee.

Selection:  An annual selection panel will be composed of the following members:

  • Last year’s awardee for Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education

  • Last year’s awardee for Pediatric Educator Award for Excellence in Residency Education

  • Residency program director

  • Clerkship director

  • One additional member
