Recommended Learning Journeys

To get started, we recommend the following two learning journeys for all UTMB employees:

AI for Frontline End-Users

Designed for clinicians, staff, and operational teams who interact with AI-enabled tools in their daily work. This journey focuses on:

  • What AI is (and is not)

  • How AI is used in healthcare and operations

  • Interpreting AI outputs responsibly

  • Understanding limitations, bias, and human oversight

This is the best starting point for anyone who wants practical, real-world AI understanding without a technical background.

Generative AI: Introduction and Overview

An accessible introduction to generative AI technologies such as large language models and AI copilots. This journey covers:

  • How generative AI works at a high level

  • Common use cases and productivity applications

  • Risks, governance, and responsible use

  • What generative AI can and cannot safely do in an academic medical center

This journey provides essential context for engaging with generative AI tools thoughtfully and appropriately at UTMB.
