Jeffrey Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai. Jeffrey earned his B.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Bioengineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he earned his Ph.D. in Biology from The Scripps Research Institute. Prior to joining Mt. Sinai, Jeffrey served as the mass spectrometry lab director at the Gladstone Institutes and the University of California San Francisco. Research in the Johnson lab focuses on developing and applying mass spectrometry-based proteomics and bioinformatics technologies to understand the mechanisms by which cellular pathways become dysregulated in various disease states, with a particular focus on viral pathogens.
