Visiting Scholars


Prior to applying, candidates are encouraged to contact the CLDR potential faculty collaborator to discuss the research project. Scholar appointments are available for up to six months. Funding will be provided for travel (roundtrip airfare/mileage) and reasonable housing accommodations. Opportunities for Remote Visits are also available.

Application Process & Requirements

  1. Applications are accepted year-round and awarded as funds are available
  2. All components of the application must be completed to be considered for scholar funding
  3. Applicants should contact the program director and faculty collaborator prior to submitting an application
  4. Materials will be reviewed by the Executive Committee and funding decisions made within four weeks
  5. All scholars will be required to submit a summary of their training experience at the end of the training period

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Proposed training must include a research question involving a large research, survey, or administrative dataset (patient records or databases from a single hospital will not qualify)
  2. Research question must address an issue related to rehabilitation, recovery, or disability
  3. Scholar must be a postdoctoral fellow or faculty/research scientist with a minimum of 50% time devoted to research
  4. Scholar must have a research doctorate or relevant clinical degree (MD, DPT) with some evidence of research training and experience
  5. Scholar must agree to adhere to all regulations regarding privacy and the ethical conduct of research involving datasets and secondary data analysis
